Not all above-ground pools are on the recall list. If you have a pool that is 48 inches deep or taller, manufactured by Bestway, Intex, or Polygroup, and uses a compression strap, you need to act quickly. The timeline of these pools dating back to 2002 indicates that many families might not even realize they own a potentially hazardous pool.
Steps to Take if You Own One of These Pools
If you discover that your above-ground pool is part of the recall, don’t panic. You can request a repair kit directly from the manufacturer. This kit includes a new rope designed to replace the harmful compression strap, ensuring the pool remains safe for your family. Importantly, secure this new rope around the support poles at ground level before removing the original strap. Until the repairs are completed, it’s advisable to ensure that children cannot access the pool unattended, or consider draining the pool as a temporary safety measure.
